Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2, 2026
We are a small bow shop. We collect the information we need to take your order, ship it, stand behind it, and keep the website running. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and who helps us handle it. It applies to damonhowatt.com and to the forms and emails connected to it.
Who we are
This site is run by Damon Howatt Productions LLC, 31034 Gowdyville Rd, Cottage Grove, OR 97424, USA. You can reach us at HowattArchery@Gmail.com or +1 541-870-4661.
What we collect
Information you give us.
- When you order: your name, email address, phone number, shipping address, what you ordered and any options you chose. There are no customer accounts; every order is a guest checkout, and your order confirmation email is your record.
- When you contact us: your name, email address, phone number and whatever you put in the form or email, so we can reply.
- When you reserve a bow: your name, email address and phone number, the bow and options you chose (hand, draw weight, length and so on), your add-ons, any note for Ryan and our Bowyer Team, your shipping address, your payment plan and your build-start week. We receive your name, contact details and bow choice as soon as you press the button to continue from the model page, before you pay anything, so that we can follow up about your build; your other choices are saved as you go, so you can finish later.
- When you agree to our Terms of Sale at payment: an agreement record with the date and time, your IP address, the browser and device description your browser sends, the version of the terms shown to you, and a fingerprint (hash) of the exact checkbox text you agreed to. See Your agreement record below.
- When you register a bow: model, serial number, purchase date, where you bought it, your name, address, email and phone, and your answers to our optional survey questions.
- When you apply to become a dealer: business name, dealer name and address, your contact details, and your answers to the questions on the application.
- When you sign up for our newsletter: your email address.
- When you enter a giveaway: the information requested in that giveaway's official rules, which are posted separately.
Information collected automatically.
- Analytics: we use Google Analytics on this site. It collects information such as device type, browser, approximate location based on your IP address, the pages you view, how you got to the site, and shopping events such as adding an item to the cart, steps of a reservation (for example choosing add-ons or a payment plan) or completing a purchase. A purchase event includes the order number, order value, the payment plan and the items bought, not your name, email address or address. The personal links in our emails are removed from the page address before it is sent to Google Analytics. Google Analytics uses cookies and a randomly generated identifier.
- Hosting and security logs: the services that serve the website and run the store record IP addresses, request details and browser information in order to deliver pages, diagnose problems and block attacks.
- Cart and reservation: tokens stored in your browser that tie your browser to your cart and to a reservation in progress. See Cookies and local storage below.
Information from others.
- Stripe tells us whether your payment succeeded, the card brand and last four digits, and a payment reference.
- Shipping carriers give us tracking and delivery status for your package.
How we use it
- To process and ship your order, send order and shipping emails, and handle returns, refunds and warranty claims.
- To handle your reservation: the email with your link to finish it, a note that we have your free coming-soon reservation and, later, the email that says we are ready to confirm it, reminders and a price notice while it is unpaid, build updates, the balance request and its reminders, and phone calls about your build, its delivery or an unpaid balance.
- To remind you about a reservation you started but did not pay for (see Email below).
- To show your card issuer what you agreed to if you dispute a charge.
- To answer your questions and provide support.
- To keep a record of your bow's serial number and ownership for warranty purposes.
- To keep the business and tax records we need.
- To detect and prevent fraud, duplicate orders and abuse.
- To send you our newsletter if you asked for it.
- To understand how people use the site and to look at our own sales figures.
- To comply with the law and enforce our terms.
Your agreement record
When you pay for a reservation or a "Buy this bow" order, you tick a box to agree to our Terms of Sale. We store the agreement record described above with your order, repeat it in your confirmation email, and use it only to show what was agreed: in a question about your order, and as evidence if a charge is disputed with your bank or card issuer, in which case we give it to Stripe and the card issuer together with the order details and our emails to you. We keep it with your order record.
Payments: Stripe
Payments are processed by Stripe. When you enter card details at checkout, they go directly from your browser to Stripe over an encrypted connection; our servers do not receive your full card number. We see payment status, card brand, the last four digits, and a Stripe reference. We give Stripe your email address so that it can send you its own receipt, and a short description of the payment (for example "50% deposit", the bow and the order number). We do not keep your card on file for later charges. Stripe has its own privacy policy, at stripe.com/privacy.
Who helps us handle it
We use service providers to run the store, and they receive the information they need for that purpose:
- Stripe for payment processing, fraud screening, refunds and disputes.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting the website and the store, its database, security, and sending our email, including order emails and the emails that deliver your form submissions to us. Email sent to our domain is received by AWS and forwarded to our mailbox, which is a Gmail account.
- Google for Google Analytics.
- ShipStation, the shipping software we use to prepare orders and buy labels, receives your name, shipping address, phone number, email address and what you ordered (for a reserved bow, its specification and payment status).
- Shipping carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx) receive your name, address and phone number so they can deliver your package. For international orders, customs authorities receive what customs requires.
- An internal reporting tool that our staff use to look at sales and stock figures from the store database.
We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or as part of a sale or reorganization of the business.
Cookies and local storage
- Cart token. When you add something to the cart, the store gives your browser a token that identifies your cart, and your browser keeps it in local storage along with the number of items in the cart. The store needs this to work.
- Reservation in progress. When you start a reservation, your browser keeps its order number and link in local storage, separately from your cart, so the model page can offer "Continue your reservation" and the reservation page can pick up where you left off. A few short-lived flags (for example, that you already saw an offer) are kept for the browser session only.
- Google Analytics cookies (names beginning with
_ga), used to distinguish visitors and sessions. - Stripe cookies, which Stripe may set on the checkout page for fraud prevention.
- Purchase marker. After an order, your browser keeps a small local-storage flag with the order number so the purchase is reported to analytics once.
- Announcement bar. If we show an announcement or sale bar at the bottom of the page and you close it, your browser keeps a small local-storage note of the message you closed so it stays closed until the message changes; the bar's settings are also kept for about ten minutes so they are not fetched on every page.
You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings; the cart will not work without local storage for this site.
We send emails about your order: confirmation, shipping and tracking, and refund or cancellation notices, plus replies to your questions. For a reservation we also send build updates (when Ryan and our Bowyer Team start your bow and when it is finished), the balance request and its reminders, and, if you choose "save for later" or we start a reservation for you by phone, a link to finish. If you reserve a model we are not building yet, we send a note that we have your reservation and, later, the email that says we are ready to confirm it. We send newsletter or marketing email only if you signed up for it; email us and we will remove you from the list.
Reservation reminders. If you open our reservation page or save a reservation for later and do not pay, we may send you up to two reminders (about one and three days later; if you come back to the page, the count starts again, and we stop about a week after your last visit). Separately, whether or not you opened the page (this includes a reservation we started for you by phone), if your held price is about to end and our price has gone up, we send one notice about five days before it ends. Each of these has a link to cancel the reservation and a link to stop these reminders. Balance reminders for a bow you have already reserved are part of the agreement you made when you paid; they have no unsubscribe link, because the deposit is forfeited if the balance is not paid in time.
Bounces and spam reports. Our email provider (Amazon SES) tells us when an email to you bounces or is reported as spam, and after that it may stop delivering our emails to that address. If that happens with an order or a reservation, we may call you at the number you gave us to sort out your email address.
Your information
If you want to know what information we have about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it, email HowattArchery@Gmail.com with the email address you used or your order number.
Where your data is processed
We are in the United States, and our store and our service providers process your information in the United States.
